Gemotions

The vibrant bouquet of mixed flowers was sitting on the porch. The only thing that greeted John when he got home. He studied them. No note. His mind felt hazy, like a poorly tuned radio.

His shoulders slumped as he walked into the house, and he set the flowers on the table without bothering to remove his jacket. The world felt muted, his senses dulled.

He stared at the blooms, their cheerful faces mocking his inertia. He just wanted to crawl into bed and shut everything out, but the thought of the effort that would take seemed to paralyze him.
